California Minimum Wage 2022

Don’t Forget to Check Your Applicable Minimum Wage and Employees’ Pay Rates.

Effective January 1, 2022, California’s minimum wage will reach $15.00 for employers with 26 or more employees and $14.00 for employers with 25 or fewer employees. Some localities may have a higher minimum wage in place, and increases may take place mid-year – often on July 1.

Do you have any staff classified as Exempt? Ensure they are properly classified and their salary meets the minimum requirement:

  • $58,240 for employers with 25 or fewer employees
  • $62,400 for employers with 26 or more employees in accordance with Labor Code Section 515.5(a)(4)
  • The department has adjusted the computer software employee’s minimum hourly rate of pay exemption from $47.48 to $50.00, the minimum monthly salary exemption from $8,242.32 to $8,679.16, and the minimum annual salary exemption from $98,907.70 to $104,149.81 effective January 1, 2022.
  • The minimum hourly pay for licensed physicians and surgeons increased to $91.07 from $86.49 effective January 1, 2022.
