“What?” The form I-9 is used to verify that an individual who is offered employment is legally eligible to work in the United States. It is a mandatory Federal form that all new hires must be provided and complete on their first day of employment.
“Who?” All new hires must be provided with the most current version of the form for completion. Existing team members do not need to complete an updated version of Form I-9.
“When?” The newest version of Form I-9, dated 08/01/2023, should be used immediately. There is a grace period until October 31, 2023, after which penalties will be applied for the use of an outdated version of the form.
