Spring To-Do’s

Here are some items to be working on as we come into spring!

March 30th – Capture Emergency Contacts

The new Workplace Know Your Rights Act requires employers to provide an opportunity for employees to name an emergency contact who will be notified if the employee is arrested or detained while at work or performing job duties.

March 31st – 2nd Tax Credit Notice Update

Employers must send a second notice in March to all employees from the prior year, informing them about free tax-filing resources and available state and federal tax credits (EITC notice). Unlike the first notice, you can deliver the second notice by hand, via mail, or through electronic communications. Employers should keep a copy of the notice and document how it was sent.

April 1st – Handbook Receipt

Make sure you distribute your updated 2026 Handbook and that you receive signed acknowledgments from every employee.

April 22nd – Administrative Professionals Day

Recognize and celebrate the valuable contributions your administrative assistants, receptionists, and support staff make to your company! For ideas on how to celebrate your team, check out our previous blog post.

May 1st – Cal/OSHA 300a

You may remove your Cal/OSHA 300a posting after the required posting period (2/1-4/30), but be sure to retain it as part of your injury and illness records.

May 13th – CA Pay Data Reporting

An annual state requirement for large employers to submit detailed workforce pay and demographic data to the California Civil Rights Department to help identify and address pay disparities.

Date TBD – EEO-1 Component Data Collection

A federally required report that requires large private employers and certain federal contractors to submit workforce demographics data to the EEOC.
