September Safety September is National Preparedness Month: Workplace Safety Check For Employers in Sacramento, CA
September Safety September is National Preparedness Month, focusing on general emergency preparation, but certainly, it is a great time to revisit business safety, compliance and effectiveness.
When was your Injury, Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) last updated?
Wait….what is an IIPP you may ask? An IIPP is a required written workplace safety program that defines various levels of responsibility and addresses elements mandated by the California Code of Regulations Section 3203. Every new employee should be provided the company IIPP for review and sign an acknowledgment of review and understanding.
This is typically one of the first things that the inspector would ask to review during an on-site safety inspection. Has your company developed and communicated an emergency response program, posted and practiced an evacuation plan or recently reviewed safety training?
Quick Workplace Safety Check:
- Employee emergency contacts on file
- Posted evacuation plan
- Current IIPP on file and reviewed by staff
- Safety Data Sheets
- Regular safety communication
