Employers: Check Your Restroom Signage

As of March 1, 2017; All single-user toilet facilities in any business establishment, place of public accommodation, or state or local government agency shall be identified as all-gender toilet facilities by signage that complies with Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations, and designated for use by no more than one occupant at a time or for family or assisted-use.

Don’t Forget About Reporting Time Pay

Each workday an employee is required to report for work and does report, but is not put to work or is provided less than half of their usual or scheduled day’s work, the employee must be paid for half of the usual or scheduled day’s work, but no less than two (2) hours and no more than four (4) hours at their regular rate of pay.

If an employee is terminated in the first half of a scheduled shift, reporting time pay must be included in final wages. Final wages are due at the time the employee is informed of termination.

Why…Why not?

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! Come on, work hard play hard! I am sure your staff is not expecting a party or celebration for St. Patrick’s Day so that makes it even better. Visit the dollar store, buy some necklaces, goofy glasses, and make it pot luck or dessert party. Sometimes we need to loosen up a little and be goofy, work-appropriate goofy, of course.

Please Check Your Posters

Check your posters to be sure that they are filled out completely. There are several areas on the California posters which require employer-specific data to be completed. If these are not completed, penalties may apply. Failure to have up-to-date and accurately completed posters and other mandatory postings can result in thousands of dollars in fines.
